Our client is a leading international contractor delivering complex, large-scale construction projects across Europe. With a strong reputation for technical excellence and high-quality project delivery, the company operates across a wide range of sectors including commercial developments, advanced manufacturing, infrastructure, and mission-critical data centre facilities.
Due to continued growth within the data centre sector, our client is seeking an experienced Mechanical Commissioning Manager to join the delivery team on a major data centre project in Portugal.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing all mechanical commissioning activities, ensuring systems are delivered, tested, and handed over in full compliance with project specifications, programme requirements, and client expectations. Working closely with project leadership, MEP teams, subcontractors, vendors, and client representatives, the Mechanical Commissioning Manager will play a critical role in driving the commissioning strategy and ensuring successful project delivery.
The successful candidate will work closely with construction, QA/QC, and commissioning teams to ensure all mechanical systems are commissioned in accordance with design intent, industry best practices, and project milestones.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead and manage all mechanical commissioning activities on a large-scale data centre project in Portugal
• Develop and implement commissioning strategies, programmes, and procedures
• Oversee commissioning of mechanical systems including HVAC, chilled water systems, CRAH/CRAC units, piping, and associated infrastructure
• Coordinate and manage subcontractors, vendors, and specialist commissioning teams
• Ensure all commissioning activities are carried out in accordance with project specifications, standards, and safety requirements
• Drive commissioning schedules in line with overall project programme and key milestones
• Lead factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), and integrated systems testing (IST)
• Identify, manage, and resolve technical issues and system deficiencies during commissioning phases
• Ensure all commissioning documentation is completed, accurate, and aligned with handover requirements
• Liaise with client representatives, consultants, and internal stakeholders throughout commissioning and handover
• Work closely with QA/QC teams to ensure systems meet required quality standards
• Promote and enforce a strong safety culture across all commissioning activities
• Ensure compliance with local regulations, international standards, and company procedures
