Commercial Manager Our client is a multi-disciplined main contractor operating across the UK and Europe with a turnover of €750m and sustained annual growth of 5%–7.5%. The Role Requirements What’s on Offer This position offers a rare opportunity for an accomplished Commercial Manager to take ownership of a major international project and play a key role in the continued growth of a market-leading contractor.
Due to continued growth and a recent major project win, our client is now seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to lead the commercial function on a flagship data centre project in Frankfurt, Germany. This is a senior, site-based role with full commercial responsibility for a complex, high-value project.
Reporting to the Regional Commercial Director, the Commercial Manager will have overall responsibility for the commercial performance of the project from pre-construction through to final account. Key responsibilities include:
• Full commercial leadership and governance of the project
• Developing and implementing commercial strategy to maximise project profitability
• Overall responsibility for cost control, forecasting, and cash flow management
• Managing subcontract procurement strategy and commercial negotiations
• Oversight and approval of valuations, variations, and final accounts
• Managing change control, risk, and contractual compliance
• Leading, mentoring, and developing the site commercial team
• Producing accurate monthly commercial reports for senior management and stakeholders
• Acting as the key commercial interface with the client and external consultants
• Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (MRICS or equivalent desirable)
• Extensive experience in a senior commercial role with a main contractor
• Proven track record delivering large-scale, technically complex projects (data centres, pharma, or major M&E-led projects highly advantageous)
• Strong contractual knowledge (NEC, FIDIC, or similar forms of contract)
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to manage risk and opportunity
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, international project environment
• Willingness to be based on site in Frankfurt (attractive expat/relocation package typically provided)
