Health and Safety Manager- Northeast 

To £300/Day  

We are partnered with a leading Main Contractor and Specialist Subcontractors seeking a talented and experienced Health and Safety Manager. As Health and Safety Manager you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety policies and procedures that ensure a safe working environment for all employees, eliminating risks, preventing workplace accidents, and ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations. The role offers flexibility with a combination of working from home and occasional visits to the site when required.  

Key Responsibilities & Requirements:   

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve comprehensive health and safety programs, policies, and procedures tailored to the organisation’s operations.  

  • Ensure all safety policies comply with local, state, and federal regulations, and relevant standards.  

  • Coordinate health and safety program elements addressing site access, security, project induction, first aid, welfare, and emergency arrangements.  

  • Establish a process of active health and safety monitoring through audits and inspections of site conditions and contractor activities.  

  • Monitor and report on health and safety performance and challenges using predefined leading and lagging health and safety performance indicators.  

  • Responsible for verifying and accrediting the supply chain, conducting compliance reviews, and providing guidance on general Health & Safety standards. 

  • Develop and deliver health and safety training programs ensuring all personnel are aware of their health and safety responsibilities. 

  • Ensure appropriate and effective emergency response, case management, incident investigation and reporting mechanisms are in place to facilitate learning from incidents (LFI).  

  • Work closely with department managers and supervisors to ensure that health and safety protocols are integrated into daily operations.  

  • Attend meetings regularly & contribute to the best of your knowledge.  

  • Degree/ qualifications in Health and Safety Management/NEBOSH.  

  • Updated understanding of health and safety principles with proven technical skills in occupational safety and health disciplines.  

  • Proven years of experience in H&S roles within large scale projects. 

  • Strong knowledge of updated health and safety legislation, regulations, and industry standards.  

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage employees at all levels.  

  • Proficiency in H&S software & tools.
